  • Does your dog have bad breath? Here are 3 tips to help remedy the situation

More often than not, your dog’s bad breath will not be “fixed” with simply giving him flavored treats or other home remedies - this will only mask the problem. Instead, try these which are a more permanent solution:

    1) Talk to your veterinarian: Your dog’s mouth may require a professional cleaning which will get rid of any tartar on their teeth, which is one of the main causes of bad breath. It is also possible that there are other more serious dental issues which need to be addressed, which will definitely require veterinary assistance.

    2) Clean your dog’s bowls + change his water daily: Eating from the same bowl a couple times a day will definitely lead to bacteria growth and thus will not help for fresh breath. The same goes for his or her water dish - stagnant water will also have the same effect on your dog’s breath and should be changed daily.

    3) Brush your dog’s teeth: Although this is a chore that many want to avoid, a proactive approach as opposed to a reactive approach is always best when it comes to your dog’s dental health. Cleaning away plaque and tartar on a regular basis will prevent most problems from occurring.
